Since 1997, our expertise has shaped the property landscape. From 1997 to 2006, we laid our foundation in property development at Makprop in Bloemfontein, leading projects across Lesotho and the Free State. Under the leadership of our director, Beyers Myburgh, we structured and secured financing for developments exceeding R200 million.
During this period, we undertook project management, leasing, and property consulting, cementing our reputation in the industry.
In 2006, leveraging a decade of experience, we envisioned a 60-room limited-service hotel tailored to business travelers. Construction began in June 2007, and just nine months later, the Urban Hotel Bloemfontein opened its doors, with a current replacement value of R50 million. This success led to Urban Hotel Kathu, a 79-room establishment in the growing mining town of Kathu, Northern Cape. With support from the IDC, the hotel—valued at R65 million—became a cornerstone of the region’s hospitality sector. Both hotels were successfully sold in 2017.
